Start with the number on the listing
Every ORIENTGEM listing carries the measurements that decide fit: inner diameter for rings, total length for chains and bracelets, overall length for hairpins and combs. Because each piece is finished by hand and then measured, we publish the measured number rather than a nominal size. Match that number — the label next to it is only a shorthand.
Rings
Rings are listed by inner diameter in millimetres.
- The fixed-size rings in our current catalogue are listed between 15.3 mm and 19.1 mm inner diameter.
- Some designs are open-ended and adjustable, and are listed as covering US 5 to 7.5.
- If the piece you want is not listed in your diameter, write to us before ordering — a made-to-order size is often possible, and a resized ring is not returnable.
Measuring a ring you already wear
- Take a ring that fits the finger you intend to wear it on.
- Measure straight across the inside, edge to edge, in millimetres. That number is the inner diameter.
- If your ruler only shows inches, multiply by 25.4.
If you have no ring to measure, wrap a strip of paper around the finger, mark where it meets, and measure that length in millimetres — that is the circumference. Divide by 3.14 to get the diameter. Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest, and make sure the paper passes over the knuckle.

The table below is the standard US conversion, not our measurement. Use it to find the diameter to look for, then match it against the listing.

UK and other markets use letters or their own numbering. Tell us the size you normally wear and the diameter you measured, and we will match the two to the piece you are looking at.
Necklaces and chains
Chain length is given as the total length, measured end to end, including the clasp. Our current listings run through 45 cm, 50 cm, 55 cm and 60 cm.
- 45 cm — sits at the base of the throat, close to the neck.
- 50 cm — the collarbone, and the easiest length to wear over a collar.
- 55 cm — just below the collarbone, over most necklines.
- 60 cm — sits lower, and works over a knit.
A pendant hangs from the chain, so add its height to the length when you picture where it will land. If you already own a chain you like, lay it flat and measure it tip to tip — that number is the one to match.
Bracelets and bangles
Our bracelets are listed at 20 cm. Measure your wrist snugly with a strip of paper, then add 1 to 1.5 cm so the bracelet sits without pulling. A bangle has to pass over the widest part of the hand, so measure your hand closed as well as your wrist.
Earrings, hairpins and combs
These pieces are listed by their overall length or height rather than a body measurement. Lengths in our current listings include 2.5 cm, 5 cm, 9 cm and 13 cm. Hair accessories are also listed by style — hairpin or comb — because the fixing decides how they sit. Match the number against something you already wear.
Weight
Listings give the weight in grams as well as the dimensions. In our current catalogue pieces run from about 8 g to about 30 g. Weight tells you more about how a piece will feel in the hand than a photograph does — it is the difference between a pendant you forget you are wearing and one you notice.

Write to support@orientgem.com with the piece you are looking at and the measurement you took. Send a photo of the ring or chain you measured if that is easier. We would rather answer a question than process a return.
Sizing is not a returns matter in the usual sense: earrings and personalised pieces cannot be returned, and a ring that was resized for you is treated as personalised. The full terms are in our refund policy.
